TRANS SPIRITUALITY

A zine written by and for trans prisoners and their allies

While incarcerated, I received a low-budget zine for trans prisoners called TIP Journal. By the time I was released in the autumn of 2005, I was nominated to edit another zine for trans prisoners, focused on their diverse spiritual paths. The zine was written by and distributed among trans prisoners across the U.S.

TRANS SPIRITUALITY was a quarterly zine for demonstrating how the transgender experience includes a rich spiritual dimension. Our initial focus is how T* inmates are finding incredible ways to apply their spirituality to the challenges of living in a gender-oppressed environment. If their spirituality proves effective for dealing with the challenges they face each day, what does that say about how we are integrating our spirituality into our daily transgender experience?

TRANS SPIRITUALITY was a public forum for expressing diverse views. Such views are the responsibility of those who express them. These published views are not necessarily those of Jen Durr Press, its staff, or the Founding Corps of the TRD, or even the writers themselves. Hey, everyone has a right to change their mind, don't they?

TRANS SPIRITUALITY was open to submissions. Material can be submitted online, by sending  it to jendurrpress@gmail.com. Material may be edited for space and continuity. It is best to be familiar with our style and tone before submitting material. A sample copy is available with a 6" x 9" envelope and $1.35. Please request our writer's guidelines. Payment to writers is a copy of the issue in which the material appears. All rights reserved.

TRANS SPIRITUALITY was available at $6.00 a copy, or $20.00 for a year. For more information on receiving your own subscription please send an inquiry to jendurrserv@yahoo.com. We provide copies for free to incarcerated LGBTQIA, as long as we have enough copies to distribute.
