Spread unifying love in 3 steps

1. Be loved

View introductory video above, if you haven’t already. Then view these videos below specific to this issue. Text is provided below each one. Get to the heart of your politicized needs.

Receive our affirmation for your specific needs.  Set yourself apart from political generalizing meant for someone else. Be affirmed for who you specifically are.

2. Give love

Look at another’s political views from their unique situation. Affirm their needs, as we affirm yours.

In other words, internalize this transcendent message of love here. Live it and let it spread.

3. Spread love

Be part of a grassroots movement that replaces the hate of polarization with messages of love.

Be Loved

Are you shouting to the choir, past each other?

Are you seeking only relief?

Are you mired in polarizing hate?

What is current your stance on

Abortion

?

Have you lost any friends or family connections over your expressed views on it?

Do you hesitate to bring it up, or anything political, to avoid sparking a bitter feud?

Or are you ready to step beyond this bitter divide?

Are you ready to resolve needs?

Are you ready for unifying love?

Appreciate how your differing situations shape your psychosocial needs, which in turn shape our political outlook.

Appreciate your differing needs

Appreciate your differing needs

Your situation prioritizes your psychosocial needs. Your social situation drives your liberal perspective. You experience one need over another.

privacy over intimacy

The need for autonomy over her own body exceeds any consideration for what others may say about her reproductive decisions. In the face of such a deeply personal and socially controversial decision, her need for privacy overrules any awkward intimacy with others somehow affected by her decision with her own body.

This need for privacy over something as precious as an unborn child strikes the other side as odd. Since the focus here is on her own needs, apparently not the unborn child’s or family as a whole, the other side is aghast at this “murder.”

Defensiveness rises. Slogans fly. Exaggerations obscure understanding. Empathy grinds to a halt. Polarization sets in.

CONTESTED TERM: life starts at birth. You believe life starts at birth because you need life to not start until birth.

Instead of denouncing the other side as anti-choice, look at their social situation. See how much they rely on family. See how devastating for them if making reproductive decisions without their regard.

Your situation prioritizes your psychosocial needs. Your social situation drives your conservative perspective. You experience one need over another.

intimacy over privacy

The need for family cohesion exceeds any consideration for personal autonomy, as the life she carries is already embraced by her family. In the face of challenges to grow healthy families, her need to maintain intimate bonds around the sanctity of life takes precedence over any need for bodily privacy.

This need for putting family interests over the mother’s bodily autonomy strikes the other side as odd. Since the focus here is on the supportive family and life in general, the other side cannot relate from their experience of low supports.

Defensiveness rises. Slogans fly. Exaggerations obscure understanding. Empathy grinds to a halt. Polarization sets in.

CONTESTED TERM: life starts at conception. You believe life starts at conception since you need life to start as soon as conception.

Instead of denouncing the other side as anti-life, look at their social situation. See how vulnerable they must be. See how frightening to bring a child into this world without proper supports.

Give Love

Does your politics let you "love thy enemies"? Do you persuade with love?

Spread your love

Spread your love

If you hear someone on the right denounce pro-choice politics, try this.

Listen. Respond with compassion.

Hold back your anger. Don’t react.

At that moment, it’s not about what you need. It’s not about your reproductive rights. It’s not about your freedom to choose. Hold that thought.

It’s about how much loving concern you can give for their need to cherish unborn life. It’s about how compassionate you are to their inflexible need to sanctify innocent life.

Don’t expect to change them to your political view, to suddenly honor all your reproductive rights. But don’t be surprised either if they are now more open to your pro-choice perspective.

The more ears attentive to their pain, the less they cling to generalizing about the life of the unborn. The freer they can let go of their animosity to abortion clinics, the easier to let you in on some vulnerable specifics. Love then flows more readily.

Feel their own struggle with an unplanned pregnancy. Recognize their moral priority to put the needs of their unborn child ahead of their own. See life from their point of view. It just might make their day. And yours.

Be present for them. Hear what they are not saying, what they perhaps will never be able to say to you, or to anyone. You may never know about the shame they suffer from a regretted abortion.

Encourage each other to reciprocate this love. Since you both need to be understood. Together, you both can now…

Defusing Polarization: Moving Beyond Divisive Politics

The 21-minute introductory video above only skims the surface behind this fresh understanding of politics. Delve deeper into understanding how your needs shape your political views by taking this 3-hour eCourse.

Seven sections of three segments each unpacks political orientation like no other. Each section gets summed up in a recap. An optional quiz follows to check your learning progress.

The course goes into deeper detail for these three main points, available only from Value Relating:

  1. Politics is the art of generalizing how to agreeably address needs in differing social situations. Political conflict swirls around generalizations argued mostly for relief, setting the stage for political polarization.

  2. Your political orientation is the outward expression of your inward psychosocial orientation. Any tension between your self-needs and social-needs creates the lens through which you see all things political.

  3. Political polarization can be turned back with love. Replacing outmoded concept of rational choice voting, you learn to respect the inflexible needs stuck behind our political views.

You also learn why the far-left and far-right differ from their more mainstream counterparts. You discover why politics can make us so emotional. You explore how we experience our needs in politicized ways. And much more. Enroll now to get a steep discount on the full price of $179.99.
